Core Values

Maya Guerra Gamble for Travis County 459th District Court Judge

Maya's Vision

It is for these reasons that when I’ve asked myself, again, ‘Where can I help the most people?’, the answer has been clear: Serving as Judge to the people of the 459th District Court.
— Maya Guerra Gamble

TAKE GUNS AWAY FROM ABUSERS

Maya has spent years protecting children from violence by prosecuting child pornography crimes and representing children in Child Protective Services cases. She will continue that work as Judge by making sure that abusers are ordered to surrender their guns.

PROTECT VICTIMS IN COURT

A career focused on service and helping victims means that Maya knows how Court can retraumatize them.  Maya will protect victims in the courtroom by separating them from their abusers.

PROTECTING THE MOST VULNERABLE

Maya's experience in Travis County includes representing parents and children in Child Protective Services cases, as well as prosecuting child-pornography and child-exploitation crimes on behalf of the State of Texas.

COURTROOM WITH COMPASSION

Maya will be a judge who operates her courtroom with thoughtful practices to produce just, efficient, and clear rulings. Every litigant, no matter who they are, will know that they have been heard, they have been understood, and the decision was carefully and thoughtfully made.

ENDING DISCRIMINATION

As a Latina and as the child of an immigrant, Maya is fully aware that discrimination based on race and gender still take a toll on our community and on our progress. Every single person in her courtroom will be treated with absolute fairness.
